The first export of liquefied gas from Mozambique
Mozambique started Yesterday (14th Nov, 2022), its first export of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) produced in the Rovuma Basin, by the Coral – Sul Project, announced the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in a communication to the nation.
According to the Statesman, the British Sponsor cargo ship “departed from Mozambique territorial waters for the international market”, being the first within the scope of the long-term purchase and sale agreement with BP, which covers the total volumes of LNG produced in our country. “Today, Mozambique enters the annals of world history as one of the exporting countries of liquefied natural gas, which, in addition to representing an alternative source of supply, largely contributes to energy security in the countries with the highest consumption”, emphasized Nyusi.
However, the President of the Republic appeals to Mozambicans to maintain their focus on other traditional areas such as agriculture, fisheries, tourism, among others, in the name of diversifying the national economy.
